Tiyospaye Publishing was established in 2006. Choosing its name from a word in the Lakota language which refers to “a loosely related group of families who come together for increased hunting capability and better defense,” this little company exists solely to assist new authors in publishing their creative works. New authors need to consider many services which are essential to getting published. That is where TP can help. Editors, book lay-out professionals, cover designers, printers, website design and management, book storage and shipping, marketing, and the many other things needed to properly register and publish a book are all part of the TP connection. TP is not a printing company. Neither is it a vanity or subsidy press. We take no money from authors “up front.” In fact, we have no set fees and we don’t charge a fixed percentage for every book you sell. We operate on the premise that is defined by the word “tiyospaye.” When the hunting is good, everyone connected to the group gets fed; and if an attack comes, everyone has a better chance of beating off the enemy by being part of the group. That may sound like it does not apply to the book publishing industry, but we think it does. To translate, TP exists to help authors hunt for the best services which will let them realize their dreams. TP exists to help authors fight off the many enemies who want to take your money first and then some of your profits later. TP wants you to choose the best trails on your journey to successful book publishing. Frankly, TP is not interested in making a lot of money. We want you to make money, not mistakes.
